Free Parking on July 4th is a Wonderful Thing!
July 4, 2009
Happy July 4th everyone! Along with many denizens of Iowa City, I enjoyed my night by checking out the Iowa Jazz Festival and fireworks. The crowds wandering around the vendor-lined streets really gave this town a city feel reminiscent of the summer festivals that I frequented back in L.A.
The best surprise of the night was that parking in downtown was free . In general, this L.A. girl expects to pay for parking for a big July 4th event because that would be the best way for the city to maximize their profit. But I ain’t complaining. Free parking on July 4th in Iowa City is indeed a wonderful thing! ♥ free parking.
